To see Sonia Neale at Aveley Counselling Services, you do not need a mental health care plan, you can self-refer. My specialty is working with individuals and couples with Borderline Personality Disorder.
A mental health care plan will only cover you for ten sessions per year. This does not work well for people with complex mental health needs. I advise clients that taking out private health insurance is the best option.
As well, clinical psychologists are booked up many months in advance. The APS has set the recommended fee for clinical psychologists at $280, however, some clinical psychologists charge well above this rate.
The Medicare rebate is currently $131.65. This can leave you with out-of-pocket (gap) expenses of approximately $150 per session. After ten Medicare rebated sessions you will have to pay the full fee.
My fee is less than the gap and depends on your circumstances. You can see me at the same fee for unlimited sessions. I can see clients, both individuals and couples face to face or on Zoom locally, interstate and overseas.
My appointments are usually 60 minutes but I can offer 60 - 120 minutes.
My wait list for an appointment is usually five business days or earlier.
If you have private health insurance, depending on your level of cover you may attract rebates from these Health Fund Providers, for both individual and couples counselling.
